Chewbacca the Red-Nosed Wookie Christmas Card

"Chewbacca the Red-Nosed Wookie had a very shiny nose and if you ever saw it, you would even say it glows. All of the other Wookies used to laugh and call him names. They never let poor Chewbacca, join in any Wookie games. Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Solo came to say, "Chewbacca with your nose so bright, won't you guide my Millennium Falcon tonight?" Then how the Wampas loved him, as they shouted out with glee "Chewbacca the Red-Nosed Wookie, you'll go down in history!"

Chewbacca the Red-Nosed Wookie will lead Santa Claus through any fog or blizzard to your chimney this holiday season!  The V-150 Anti-Oribital Ion Hoth Cannon "The Planet Defender" in background.

Interior of the card has a silhouetted bowcaster (Chewie's awesome crossbow laser), and reads
"Wookie, Guide my Sleigh Tonight"  Outer envelope has a stamped "A long time ago, on a holiday far, far away...  4.25" x 5.5" Clay coated 12 pt. premium card stock.

The Return of D'Angelo - Grantland Quarterly #4

Got an illustration in the new issue of Grantland #4 of the elusive musician and ex-superstar D'Angelo for an article entitled "The Return of D'Angelo and The Rebirth of R&B".   I really had a great time doing this piece, going with a more raw, dynamic vibe.

LA Weekly - Why The Time to Get High in L.A. is NOW!

A recent illustration for LA Weekly.  The article talks about what happened when Ben and Keith go to one of those shady Venice Beach doctors, got a scrip, and then bought pot at a dispensary or two. "Though we've got to great lengths to be legal, we're suddenly a pair of paranoid ninth graders. And, again, we've surely paid too much: We're probably supposed to be tasting hints of boysenberry and coriander, but all I can smell is garbage."

MF Gallery's Halloween Show

Here's another side of my work, something different.  I have some original watercolors of my SHAPES series in the MF Gallery's Halloween Show in Brooklyn this year.  The opening night party last weekend was a blast and the owners Frank and Martina are great hosts and very talented artists.  The show is up through November 11th and is located on Bond Street.
Below are some shots of the show.  Check out all the artists and pieces  HERE!
Frank is doing some really cool sculpture lately, check out his the mounted head (top right)
I've been working on another portfolio for years, nay decades, as some of you close to me may know, but have yet to plug the trigger in terms of seriously getting it out there.  Just been caught up working on it and reworking on it in my spare time, creating this odd world.  These characters are the tip of the iceberg, a glimpse of things to come. Fantasy, weird creatures, maps, comics, Magical Tales!  I was was going to launch a new website this fall featuring it all but got a book job that has kept me very busy so it's been put off until early 2013.  Until then... behold several cast members - Boca Ratoni, Rico Sluggs the Sinister Minister & Stagg Willy and The Fronyon Man.

Electric Eel Apocalypse 2012

Sometimes personal illustrations are created that are open to interpretation.  This one defies explanation so I will leave it to you to decipher the it's very deep meaning.
